What Is BlueCruise?

BlueCruise is a "hands-free, eyes-on" driving assist feature that uses radars, forward-facing cameras, and a driver-monitoring system to ensure that you're watching the road. It can take over steering, acceleration, and braking duties on compatible divided highways known as "Hands-Free Blue Zones," as long as the driver remains attentive. These zones cover over 130,000 miles of North American highways and approximately 97 percent of controlled-access roads.

How Do You Use Ford BlueCruise?


  • When you enter a Hands-Free Blue Zone, the cluster indicator and infotainment screen show that BlueCruise is available.


  • Activate Adaptive Cruise Control and turn on Lane Centering with Hands-Free via the steering-wheel controls or settings menu.


  • Remove your hands from the wheel-but keep your eyes on the road-the system monitors attentiveness and will prompt you to take back control if needed.


  • The vehicle can maintain lane position, adjust speed for traffic, and even assist with lane changes in certain trims.
